About Our Program
A Venturing Crew is a unit comprised of older youth and young adults aged 14-20 who age out of the program at age 21. The unit focuses on turning the members of the Crew into the leaders of tomorrow by focusing on developing leadership skills by practical and theoretical application while keeping a program that is of service to others and going on activities that are full of unique experiences.
The Leadership
Just like in other Scouting America programs, our Venturing Crew has adult leaders that are fully trained in the Venturing leadership positions. Our Crew has a parent committee that is focused on the administrative side of running a Crew while also keeping the parents in the loop. The Committee Chair is the head of this committee and works with the Advisor in order to create a program that is enjoyable for the Venturers.
The Venturing Crew is primarily under the leadership of the youth leaders. Our President heads the meetings and activities while assisted by the Vice President, Quartermaster, Treasurer/Secretary, and Historian. Their jobs are to both support the President as well as focus on their individual duties. The Crew is a smaller unit and for that reason, program planning is done by the entire unit with the Advisor acting in an advisory capacity to ensure that the plans fall under the limitations placed upon Venturing Crews.
Our Program
Throughout the years, our Venturing Crew have done some pretty typical activities such as hiking, backpacking, and service projects. However, we have pushed the envelope and have gone rock climbing, bouldering, and rappelling down waterfalls.
