Welcome to our Scout Troops! While there are two scout troops, we run the troops as one unit together to better serve the scouts.
A Scout Troop is a unit comprised of youth aged 11-17 who age out of the program at age 18. The unit focuses on turning the members of the Troop into people that follow the Scout Oath and Law in every aspect of their lives by having a program that ensures each youth will learn how to become good citizens in their communities.
Just like in other Scouting America programs, our Scout Troop has adult leaders that are fully trained in the Scouting leadership positions. Our Troop has a parent committee that is focused on the administrative side of running a Troop while also keeping the parents in the loop. The Committee Chair is the head of this committee and works with the Scoutmaster in order to create a program that is enjoyable for the Scouts.
Each group, or patrol, has their own youth Patrol Leader which is the Scout in charge of the group. The Patrol Leaders can elect to have an assistant if they wish in order to share in managing the patrol. The Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders form the Patrol Leaders Council alongside the Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, Quartermaster, Troop Guide, and Scribe. The Patrol Leaders Council creates a program plan that is facilitated with the guidance and help of the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster.
Throughout the years, our Scout Troop has done some pretty typical Scout activities such as backpacking, camping, and service projects. However, we have done unique outings such as rocket shoots, trips to significant museums, and whitewater rafting down the Kern River.
